There are two basic elements
in the economical relations of Estonia and Russia.
The first one is the foreign
trade. Russia takes the second place in the turnover of the estonian foreign
trade. The main export commodities are all sorts of food and cars. Estonia
imports mainly fuel. After coming into effect double rated custom tariffs
Estonian trade saldo with Russia has become negative.
The second element is
transit. Throug Estonia lays the most covenient way from Russia to Baltic
ports.
Mutual investments are not
wide spread. Main Russian investments are directed in the sphere of oil
transit. Tourism is also not developed, although it could be very profitable
business here.
Economic relations between
two countries considerably depend from policy. Today these relations develop on
the private and regional levels.
